|Robin had gone over to visit Ray & Ellen the day before. She called me to tell me they were
going out in the boat. That's always enough for me to get off my ass and go...
|We left Ray's house at around 11:30 AM and launched the boat around 12:00 Noon at Pu'uhonua O Honaunau,
otherwise known as Honaunau and headed up to Kealakekua Bay, 4 miles north (green line). There, we anchored just
on the edge of the white sand bottom (see below) and snorkeled the coral surrounding it. As usual, I don't have any
pictures because I haven't gotten an underwater camera yet and trying to take pictures from the 12-foot boat is a little
bouncy! I ended up driving the boat back (magenta line) and forgot to turn the GPS on until halfway back (Oops!).
|When we launch the boat at the boat ramp, we have to stand around and hold the boat standing in the shallow water while
Ray goes and parks the truck and trailer. While we were waiting, these 2 sea turtles, or honu, kept coming around looking
for handouts. The local fishermen sometimes feed them, which isn't really a good thing...
